Chicago Section of STLE Presents:

"The Frictional Behavior of Complex Esters"

Ramesh Navaratnam
Emery Oleochemicals, LLC

Thursday, November 17th, 2016

Abstract:

The function of Esters as lubricants has been investigated since their application in this industry since the 1940s. Complex Esters can be engineered to have functionalities that contribute positively to the lubricity characteristics. The purpose of the study is to investigate if these functionalities can be further enhances changing the chemistry at various ISO viscosity grades. The study demonstrates the friction modification, high shear stability, and liquid film formation of these esters are based on the chemistries, and independent of viscosity.
